The initial movie was McQuoid’s directorial debut and it looks like New Line saw something they liked in the first timer who has directed many music videos and such. The news comes yesterday as Variety made the announcement.

I say this because many fans were not exactly pleased with the reboot and even though there was enough blood soaked fan service to go around, not actually having an actual tournament didn’t sit well with people.

I’m not sure whether this is good news or bad news but it looks like Mortal Kombat helmer Simon McQuoid ha been enlisted to return to pilot the following up which was announced awhile back.
